Horses come in many sizes!
Ours are pretty small, if your idea of a horse is a "Trigger"
or "Silver" sized animal. Even smaller if your idea of a horse is a Budweiser
Clydesdale! However, for Carolyn, they're just the right size.
When we moved to Michigan, we took the opportunity to find a small farm, as
we both enjoyed country living. With land prices here at least ten times
greater than they'd been in Alberta, a replacement for our 80 acres in
Alberta was out of the question. at least if we wanted to live within
commuting distance of work. Fortunately, we found a small 8 acre place
fairly close to the city with fenced pastures and a barn and corral.
I was surprised to learn that Carolyn had never actually seen a live
miniature, considering how she was always talking about them -- so I did
some internet investigation and found a mini farm fairly close by -- near
Port Huron. After some conversations with the owner, Jeannie Simple, and
directions, I took Carolyn for her first "live" viewing. No surprise, it was
love at first sight -- they were small and they were cute. Here's why she
likes them so much, this is Carolyn with Windy (short for WindDancer) in
early 2001:

If you're unfamiliar with minis, that picture should give you an idea of
their size. Of course, this is when Windy was a baby, now she's a typical
cranky mare.
