Hannah
Hannah is very pretty, very gentle, and very forward. She's usually the
first one to greet you and check to see if you have a treat for her. Her
coloring is quite distinctive and we're anxious to see what coloration her
offspring will be with Moondancer as the sire. We "introduced" the two of
them as soon as Hannah started showing heat, and she doesn't seem to have
come into heat after that time, so we're hopeful that she'll be a mother
again this summer. Deb, her former owner, advised she carried and foaled
easily, so we'll hope she's as good as Mandy in that department.
My goodness, I didn't even notice that I devoted a new page to her new colt
but never even mentioned poor Hannah in the story. She had her new foal on
July 7th - a little colt we called Cinnamon. As with Mandy, Hannah did it
all by herself ... by the time Carolyn got out to the barn in the morning,
both Cinnamon and Hannah were dry and he was standing. Unlike Mandy, though,
Hannah seems pretty indifferent to the baby. She stood still while he was
nursing, but paid no mind to him otherwise. She got pretty chubby over the
summer as she feasted on the lawn in the back yard until there was nothing
left and then the side and front lawns. That helped keep the little guy away
from the more rambunctious Dancer and Spicy until he was ready for a close
encounter of the horse kind. And it also served to keep the lawn trim and
Hannah happy.
