Bullet
Bullet is a
recent addition. Both Carolyn and I had been trying to decide whether to try
and find a new home for Windy, or to find a companion for her. When Carolyn
saw an ad in the local paper for Bullet, and we drove over to take a look,
the decision was made for us -- a companion for Windy. Bullet had been
rescued from a local farm where his owner thought it was "cute" to keep him
in a doghouse. The folks that rescued him had no intention of keeping him,
since they had draft horses and nothing was scaled for a mini. So, we had
another horse to make room for.
Bullet's nickname is "escape artist" .... he seemed to have
no fear of the electric fence, and many evenings we'd find him in
Moondancer's pasture happily "sharing" his hay! Twice he wandered off the
farm and over to a neighbor's on the east - the first time he actually got
into their corral (I guess he got used to being around larger horses!). Once
he got away and ended up two doors east in an enclosure with cattle! I had
to make some changes to the electric fence - standardize the distance
between wires on all fences, and add a new grounding wire - the snow was
insulating the horses from the ground too much!
